HDU Services
Sinai Hospital Rongai’s High Dependency Unit (HDU) provides intermediate level care for patients who need closer monitoring than a general ward but not full intensive care unit support. Our HDU is equipped with advanced monitoring systems, oxygen supplies, and emergency response equipment to manage post operative patients, severe infections, respiratory distress, and other acute conditions. A dedicated team of nurses and doctors supervises patients around the clock. Patients admitted to HDU benefit from frequent vital sign checks, early detection of complications, and prompt intervention when changes occur. The unit works closely with theatre, maternity, paediatrics, and internal medicine teams to ensure smooth transitions from surgery or emergency care to recovery. This layered approach improves safety and supports faster progression to the general wards or discharge. Because Sinai Hospital Rongai is SHA accredited and operates 24/7, our HDU is prepared to receive critical cases at any time, including referrals from other facilities. Our integration with laboratory, imaging, and pharmacy services ensures that investigations and medications are delivered without delay. For families, this means access to high quality, life supportive care close to home, with professional monitoring and compassionate support.
